Evolution Park is a 40,000 sq ft office complex servicing medical, knowledge, science & technology businesses in Blackburn. The fully serviced office complex is owned by the UK’s largest regeneration company, St Modwen. Clients situated at Evolution Park include Lancashire Care Foundation Trust, Balfour Beatty Workplace, Sovereign Beverage Company, Techfloor Services and Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council.
Evolution Park came to us to digitise their car parking system. With over 600 people parking from 27 businesses at Evolution Park, the existing paper based system was outdated and unsustainable. The challenge was to create a system where all staff in client businesses could register their details with ease. This would then store the information in a central location to allow the team of receptionists at Evolution Park to access the data from multiple locations. The aim was to create a system to improve efficiencies within the business by reducing time spent managing the car park.
Our strategy for Evolution Park was to integrate technologies into a web based platform to improve the process for both clients and staff. We started the project by identifying the needs of the key user groups to establish the best approach for the system redesign.
To allow clients to register their details onto the system easily we created a password protected website which allowed people to submit their details. This data then fed automatically into a database where the information could be easily accessed by the staff at Evolution Park. A vital aspect of the system design was for staff and clients to access the platforms on multiple devices. This meant the data was up to date when both staff and clients accessed the system. This is one of the key reasons why we chose a web based platform for the solution.
The new automated system resulted in savings for Evolution Park of around 5 days per month in staff time, which was previously spent managing the old system. This efficiency equates to a reduction of 60 days per year, or 2 months per year which is a significant cost saving in staff time. This has allowed Evolution Park to focus on more productive activities throughout the business.
